Rescue

Rescue is paramount. If you don't effect the rescue for your partner each minute that passes the chance of your partner's survival drops quickly. We will initially be offering materials on rescue with a beacon, shovel, and probe. Our hopes are that you have taken at least a Level 1 avalanche course and know your basics

The PDFs and images located below are meant for printing off, sharing with your partners, and using to review the lifesaving steps on how to perform Basic First Aid for your partner caught and injured in an avalanche.

An example of rescuing an Alert and Oriented Patient

Assess for signs of life. Check the patient's Airway. Ensure the patient is breathing and has a pulse. Check for Injuries. Keep the patient warm. Plan for an evacuation. All fully buried avalanche victims warrant a full hospital evaluation. 

Assessing Signs of Life

Get to the patient's airway. Assess for signs of life. Clear and open the airway. Check for breathing. Check a pulse. If no breathing or pulse start CPR.
