Free, open source resources and curriculum for responding medically and psychologically after an avalanche.
After The Avalanche origin story starts with the musings and conversations from Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses, EMTs, and ski patrollers as we have recreated, played, and responded in the backcountries of Utah and Wyoming. It was clear that a simple medical resource was needed for backcountry travelers to take care of avalanche victims.
After the Avalanche is in perpetual development and thanks to the ongoing advising with Dr. Collin Grissom, Dr. Scott Mcintosh, Dr. AJ Wheeler, Dr. Will Smith, Dr. Ellie Gilbertson, Dr. Lindsey Fell, Paramedic Michael Buchanan, and Dr. TJ Hartridge we hope to continue developing these resources for us all to learn more how to respond after the avalanche.
A simple approach to the first aid needed to care for a victim caught in an avalanche.
The Avalanche Data Triad is a simple memory tool for both reviewing avalanche accidents as well as assessing conditions and dynamics in real time.
How we can start preloading dialogue and tools to help us understand, cope with, and support ourselves and each other after a tragedy.
